Conquering the Enigmatic Heights of Gunung Besar Hantu (GBH) - Summary

On February 22, 2025, the Time Leaps Adventure (TLA) hiking community set out to conquer Gunung Besar Hantu, the highest mountain in Negeri Sembilan. A group of 39 adventurous participants, led by 3 guides, met at the remote trailhead at Taman Negeri Kenaboi, Jelebu, around 2:30 PM.

The ascent began at 3:45 AM with a briefing and warm-up stretches. The initial part of the trail, though seemingly flat, presented a challenging gradual climb that quickly tired the hikers. After a taxing trek, they reached Simpang Y and continued on a rollercoaster-like path to Sungai Kering, where they took a well-deserved 45-minute break.

At 6:15 AM, they resumed hiking toward Kem Orkid, enjoying a less strenuous stretch with beautiful views and a chance to watch the sunrise. After reaching the Kem Orkid at 8:00 AM, they warmed up with coffee before setting off to the peak at 9:00 AM.

The highlight of the hike was the nearly vertical ascent from Kem Orkid to Simpang Y, where each hiker had to navigate steep terrain using ropes and tree roots. After successfully reaching Simpang Y, the final push to the peak offered breathtaking views, rewarding their hard work.

By 11:00 AM, they celebrated their achievement with photos before descending and arriving at Sungai Kering around 3:00 PM. Following refreshments, the group either walked back to the trailhead or opted for a motor ride, successfully completing the adventure around 4:50 PM with smiles and memories of their exhilarating experience at Gunung Besar Hantu.
